A brief introduction...

Shibari Score Notation

Shibari Score Notation was invented to cater to the needs of exploration, documentation, and composition of Shibari sequences, offering both novices and seasoned practitioners an easy and straightforward yet precise method of notation. It serves as a means to document, recall, and construct sequence progressions with ease. Whether swiftly capturing ideas or memorising sequences from workshops or performances, this notation can be of great help. For advanced students, it facilitates the drafting and comprehension of new concepts before trying them out.

Establishing a universal language for Shibari notation fosters the exchange, preservation, and creation of learning materials, performances, exercises, and ideas for scenes and the creative work being done in this discipline.

Our Notation Education

Online Classes

We are aiming to make teaching of the system available to everyone. Online classes are a good way to familiarise yourself with the system if you can't go to workshops or need a refresher.

Workshops

We are teaching the Notation System in 1-day and 2-day in-person intensives across the globe. Please click the ticket link to find upcoming Workshops in your area.

If you are an event organiser or venue owner and would like to invite us to teach, please contact us here.

Privates

We are happy to teach the Notation system in form of private classes. Please get in touch to discuss details.

Our Board

A brief introduction...

The Notation system holds the potential for community wide communication and maybe even beyond. But for this to work, we all need to speak the same language and have a core of signs and rules we all agree on and use.

The system grows and evolves organically with every person who uses and adapts it to their needs. As it should.

To decide which additions find their way into the standard system and will be taught as such, we started to appoint a committee or sounding board which consists of people, who have a relevant professional background and have an intimate knowledge of the notation system.

Due to the importance of sticking to a standard in order to ensure communication across the community, we urge people who want to teach the system in their community to conclude the relevant classes or workshops including the class "Shibari Notation for Educators". If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us.

It would be sad to see this opportunity for a common notation and the communicational, educational, and creative possibilities vanish by not sticking to a commonly agreed on standard.

Thank you so much!
